 I did this Anti-Bully cartoon about seven years ago for a poster, when I look at it now I realize the bully doesn't always have to be the big guy!

Kids Birthday Party Cartoon

A different idea I was asked to do was to cartoon/caricature this young fella, but no color or shading as the parent is going to print this off and hand it out to the kids with colored markers to color in.

Panama, Kelly Gannon

Here it is, September 12th and had it not been for this virus, I am supposed to be flying out today to draw caricatures aboard a cruise ship and eventually landing up in Panama. I n previous years I drew caricatures for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines....I had finally got on to another cruise line after many months of qualifying and now to be told the job is cancelled. Well, hopefully in a year or two I guess.

Every now and then we get an assignment and for some reason it gets cancelled....this was one that was cancelled for me. It was to be just one of about 12 cartoons for a youtube video. But I sure enjoyed working on this one......even though it was just one....:) :)

Corona Virus Blues

Be careful of what you say out loud, your words can have effect....:) I was at a music camp a few years ago and talked with mega drummer Gregg Potter from The Buddy Rich Big Band. We had both realized we had a friend in common, Mark Dawson from the iconic 60's band, The Grass Roots. I casually said to Gregg that " one day I would like to play BRUSHES" on just one of Mark's songs....well......   fast forward 2 years later, if you notice in the video, I'm playing brushes ( I'm the drummer in this song), and I'm playing one song with Mark Dawson.......   careful what you say out loud. In this case, it all good!! Thanks Mark Dawson!!

Tommy Thayer, Kelly Gannon

Wow....it's not everyday you get to meet the guitar player for the iconic rock band KISS! I had a chance to meet Tommy Thayer from KISS and afterwards drew a stylized black and white caricature of Tommy. When I met him he was polite and very cordial, no rock star attitude....seemed like a nice guy!

Here's a real simple studio caricature done for a couple celebrating their anniversary..... cool idea was to leave it black and white and make copies so their grandkids could color the picture....As a sidenote, when I get asked to do studio caricatures, if they were simple like this one, I would do more......:)

I had some fun with this project. I recorded and sang an old 60's Dean Martin song,Little Ole Wine Drinker Me, then drew cartoons for the video. Darn.....Because of the Coronavirus I've had many cancellations on my Calgary caricature events. This is one I was looking forward to in 2 weeks that was cancelled. I regularly draw caricatures for this hotel chain and do quite a few in Banff, Sunshine Village and so on. Well.....hopefully we all can get everything back on track soon! But I'm looking forward to doing this event later this year...:)

Studio Caricature

A friend of mine, David Miller asked if I would do a caricature of him for his studio. Obviously David is a drummer, we both took drum lessons from Jim Riley, drummer for the country band, Rascal Flatts. David was helpful as he is friends with Jim and lined me up a hotel room close to Jim's house, plus driving me into the downtown core of Nashville.

David was one of the 2019 CMA awards drummers backing Lindsay Elle, he also worked with Thomas Rhett for a while. Anyway....David's a heck of a nice guy to know!

Banff Event/Party Caricatures

It was a fantastic time last weekend getting the opportunity to draw caricatures at The Banff Springs Hotel, in the Rocky Mountains in Banff. The event was a political meeting with a well known Canadian politician. I'm always honoured to get a chance to draw caricatures in such a beautiful setting.

Vinnie Appice

I did this caricature/cartoon of Vinnie Appice whom I met at a rock camp.....Vinnie plays drums for Black Sabbath and has worked with John Lennon. His brother Carmine wrote the hit song by Rod Stewart "If You Like My Body And You Think I'm Sexy.....

Kids Caricatures

Caricaturing kids in Calgary a couple weeks ago...more like caricaturing tweens…. When caricaturing these ages I still stay "cutesy" but then start adding the amusing situations..( what a tween would find amusing.....:) These tweens were excellent subjects and great fun! :)

Here's a couple kids caricatures I drew in Calgary for a small event. When drawing younger kids, I was trained while working in Disneyland drawing caricatures, to keep them CUTE! Some guys really exaggerate but I find no need to do that to a small child, therefore keeping it a positive experience.....they will have plenty of time in their future to have those that point out what they consider "flaws".....in the meantime.....keep the kids caricatures FUN for them..... :)

I drew caricatures in Calgary a few weeks back for the BMW Christmas event, great event, I think it would be about the 5th year in a row I've been asked to draw caricatures for them. A couple days before that I was asked to draw caricatures for Mercedes.....maybe next year Ferrari ?…..you never know!!....:) :)

Mr. Bean

Throwback Thursday…...Mr. Bean. I drew this cartoon/caricature of Mr. Bean about 10 years ago. I don't think he's changed his looks at all throughout the years....He's always looked kinda old.... :)

Calgary Kid's Party Caricatures

Drawing caricatures in Calgary for kid's Christmas parties. As you can see, as a Calgary Caricature Artist, we have to try to work fast...check out the average line-up we usually have. With kid's I have to draw a bit more than just head and shoulders such as I do with adults, they usually like a quick hobby or sport to go with the caricature. In Canada I've seen that hockey rules for the boys caricatures....:)

Calgary Sketch Artist :)

As a party caricature artist in Calgary I constantly get called " Calgary Sketch Artist".....I guess I'll go with that....:) Just a couple caricatures from yesterday's party in Calgary. I couldn't draw the guest holding the caricature as the line-up was too long and I never had time for a proper pose.... but all good!! :)
