Radio Host

Finally Calgary has a great evening talk radio show!  When I'm not drawing caricatures at corporate events, playing in my band or rehearsing, with my Wife's blessings, I go lift weights a little later at night at a local gym here...since I'm

Caricatures by picture

I received a call from a school in the interior of British Columbia where there are not a lot of caricature artists to choose from, so the school sent me pictures to work off of....these I treated exactly like a live event....just look at the screen and quickly draw a head and shoulders cartoon style caricature. These are half of them, about 20 more to go!
A studio digital caricature I did, though I have to stress that I don't do studio caricatures anymore, though IF I had to, would only want to do one that has a design element to it instead of a series of "things" in the picture.

Calgary Cartoonist

My cartoon business is going to the dogs...literally! A client asked that I cartoon a Dachshund to be used for a construction company mascot. The cartoon pooch had to be standing with tools, no movement, look very friendly and keep the cartoon very simple in design and color. I love seeing my simple cartoons in print whether it be on a website or flyers etc, which this cartoon is showing up in. These are my all time favorite projects to work on! ( No animals were hurt during this drawing...... :)

Calgary Cartoonist

Well it is amazing how my little cartoon pitbull design has been turned into calendars and tee shirts sold all around the world....I guess never underestimate the power of a little cartoon!

Party Caricatures

A couple of the cartoon caricatures I drew over Christmas Day to New Years Eve and Day at The Delta Kananaskis Resort in the mountains. You could REALLY get spoiled working up there, nice rooms, scenery and the food! Yes...the belly now has to get worked to get those delux buffets they have out there. These were delightful kids to draw...thank you!

Calgary Cartoonist

Above is a cartoon I first drew for a children's website last year....but...unfortunately it was a "no go"........ I drew another for a construction company's website and am waiting for it to be put up before I post it. "Studio cartoons" I love to draw...."STUDIO" caricatures.....hmmmmnnn....NOT so..........
A new logo designed for a small entertainment company I've invested in. Yes...it's mega simple in design, but at first the designers had other swirls and graphics built into it and I just felt it looked cleaner on it's own and asked that they take everything else out but the lettering. I think the color is the hook! More on this later.

Stay With Me - Sam Smith - Cover - Trio Avenue

Just had to post another of my band, Trio Avenue's, latest recording! Kudo's goes to our lead singer Don, as he ALWAYS hits the correct notes no matter how high, as you will hear in this song. Reed Crapo playing keyboards, digital bass and orchestra. Yours truly, Kelly here playing a set of Roland digital drums. Enjoy!

Christmas Over...Hooray!

Well...Christmas is well over and for me...I'm happy, hate to sound like Scrooge, but I'm a "Halloween" person myself! Here's the last of many decorations inside The Gannon's house my Wife, Maizie so lovingly decorates...yes....you do a great job Maizie!

Happy New Year!

Don't end up like this guy New Year's Eve..... I'll be drawing caricatures until New Year's Day up in Kananaskis Country at the Delta Resort....so until then...Happy New Year!
A few of the hard working staff at the Delta Resort I'm drawing caricatures at this Christmas to New Year's Day. These people at the hotel really work hard to make the guests have a memoriable Christmas. Thanks to all.

Here's the room I'm drawing caricatures at this Christmas....you can't beat the ambience in here....or the food!

Christmas at The Gannon's

My Wife Maizie always does a fantastic job decoration our home at Christmas! Every corner of the house has a Christmas theme set up, including all tables, entrance way and even the basement! I need a warehouse though to store all the decorations during the rest of the year.......

Happy - Pharrell Williams - Cover - Trio Avenue

Here's another recording from my band "Trio Avenue," recorded a few months ago....yours truly banging away at the drums. I had to "alter" the drum pattern from the origional as Pharrell is using a drum machine. A fun song for a drummer either way!
For the last four years, I've been able to draw caricatures at this resort in Kananaskis country. I begin drawing tomorrow ( Dec 23) and come back New Years Day. I have two events to draw caricatures on Christmas Day alone, so it keeps me busy. Luckily my family is able to come out anytime they want, as it's about an hour and a half from my home. They generally just come out for a day or so but I'm always glad to see them, as all I see there are.....families! Until then....Merry Christmas!

Calgary Party Caricatures

I've been so fortunate here in Calgary, to draw about six caricature events a week. And I have about seven or so more events until New Years Day...Thank You Calgary!

Party Caricatures

A wonderful group of guests that were drawn last Friday evening in a rustic atmoshere held at The Stampede grounds. Most were electrical engineers. Another entertainer and myself arrived when speeches were still being held and both of us spotted the large glass bottle of candy kisses on the table. He had the same idea I did....lets have some candy while we were waiting....but you can't just have ONE candy....or even FIVE candies....maybe a dozen? After the speeches, the announcer asked the guests to hurry and fill out their best guesses as to how many candies were in the glass jar. ( Of course a prize was available)...we looked at each other...literally caught with our fingers in the candy jar....lets just say, all worked out well in the end!

Kid's Caricature

Kid's parties during the Christmas season have been steady and are so convenient for a party caricaturist as I do these in the afternoon, then change into a suit and go to my evening caricature events held for the adults. I liked this one as it was in a car showroom with a Viper sitting right behind the guest......it was hard to keep my eyes on the drawing.................

Before I arrive at a venue to draw caricatures here in Calgary, I never know what the atmosphere will be....I have to say that because of the corporate head offices here in Calgary, I'm never disappointed! One was an event venue Saturday evening, and the other was the lobby leading into another event venue a week ago....it's safe to say as soon as I started doing corporate caricature gigs, I went out and bought an expensive suit!
Working two Saturday's ago at The Calgary Zoo is always a gig I like. I could see into the flamingo exhibit after the event and have a quick peek around before getting on the highway and doing a high-end event at The Banff Springs Hotel in Banff. Whenever I do caricature gigs at The Calgary Zoo, they alway have an interesting show on stage in each venue where as I always come out knowing a bit more about animals than when I went in!

Frank Sinatra

My cartoon caricature of Frank Sinatra ( born Francis Albert Sinatra) ....if Frank was alive today, he would be 99 years old. I actually loved Sinatra's movies more than his musical performances....once The Rat Pack formed....he lost me.

Calgary Party Caricatures

k
A couple caricatures of some lovely guests from Wednesday evening's event. All of the ladies drawn that night were event agents that handle entertainment across Alberta and British Columbia, I felt honoured that I had the opportunity to be the caricature artist to draw them....thank you!

The lovely lady in white below (Sarah) is one of the entertainers from one of Calgary's high end talent agencies, Trixtan Entertainment. http://trixtan.com/
This is an entertainment company that provides Disney and Vegas style entertainment....thanks Tristan!

Calgary Kid's Caricatures

This Christmas I've had plenty of kid's Christmas events at this "park" in Calgary. Tucked inbetween the snow clouds is what looks a bit like a tower...it isn't, it's a bobsled run, it's where the movie Cool Running was filmed with John Candy. Below this is the event venue I quite often work at, usually for kid's events.

Stereotypical Hawaiian Tourist

To continue with my silly posts on "stereotypical types in cartooning" series....this is my version of a stereotypical Hawaiian tourist. I was in Maui one time and this would be some of the "colorful" tourists in the water. What I can say with relief is....good thing it wasn't in The Mediterranean where guys this age wear speedos.....

Calgary Party Caricatures

This is a first for me as a caricature artist is drawing caricatures in a wine store for a credit card company. The surroundings were beautiful and all the guests could try different wines from different countries.
