Spruce Meadows day 3

At various times of the day while I drew caricatures, scenes such as the one above, would trot past me.....it reminded me of one of my favorite movies of all time...Zulu, with Michael Caine, ( about the Anglo-Zulu war). The riders had the complete historical British military costumes on....loved it!

She insisted on the hat and glasses!

More riders that rode past me often in the day....I'm guessing these were dressed as early North American soldiers, not sure if Canadian or American.

Spruce Meadows day 2

Day 2 of Spruce Meadows was...well, as you can see...a soggy one. I still had a five hour gig drawing caricatures that day, you might expect it to be slow, but perhaps it was busy because where I was working was a great place to get out of the rain...........

Spruce Meadows Caricatures ...Day 1

All over the park at The Masters there are costumed horse riders to show how important horses were to mankind throughout history, both in peaceful times and in battle.
Just a couple of many "horse enthusiasts" I caricatured today...thanks girls! The weather held JUST until I completed my very last caricature...then down it came...thanks to the "rain Gods!"

Spruce Meadows Caricatures

The British military showed it's presence around the Masters today, both in modern day look and historical....not for security, but because of the historical alliance between Canada and Britain.

The media held it's interviews for television a couple feet from where I was drawing caricatures all day....the camera is pointed at the champions, but right behind them is me....I made sure I sat up straight...........
Busy, busy drawing caricatures for three more days at The Spruce Masters......it's kind of like Disneyland for horse show jumping people from all around the world.

Caricatures at Weddings

One of the events this weekend was another wedding I drew caricatures at. This year has sky rocketed with Bride and Grooms booking caricaturists for their weddings. This was booked by Kel Studios Entertainment   info.kelstudios@gmail.com
This wedding was a lovely young Asian couple, terrific guests as well! Sometimes when I look into the room at first, I can see that I'm going to have to draw as quick as I can... Congraduations Tobi and Timmy!
Another yoga caricature I did awhile back for a website digitally cleaned up from a straight Copic Marker caricature with just a little bit of enhancement. I have one more yoga caricature to clean up for the website.

Brad West

A great sport about getting his caricature drawn in Calgary is Brad West, radio personality and host of SHINE FM....he had me drawing his caricature live on the radio during and after I completed the drawing. The event was to raise money and awarness for MS. Brad was a terrific guest to draw...thanks Brad!

I'm quite fortunate in my job of drawing caricatures at corporate events, that I get to see/hear a lot of different bands at the events I work at. Friday evening was no exception....when this show was finished, I was to finish up drawing guests...the entertainment that evening were the singing finalists of the show "America's Got Talent,"....they were flown in for this event....tough act to follow..............

Caricatures in Alberta

A few of the many delightful ladies I drew caricatures for at a golf course in Banff....while the hubbies were playing a round of golf.

A terrific mode of transportation while visiting the town of Banff!
The clubhouse set into the Rocky Mountains.

Saturday Night's Gig

Saturday night's caricature gig was held at The Banff Springs Hotel in The Rocky Mountains. My photography isn't all that wonderful, so all of you wedding photographers...no need to break a sweat! My "click art" is a panorama of the hotel that I was fortunate to draw caricatures in as I've done many times in the past. The likes of Walt Disney, The Queen (not the band!), Helen Keller, Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie and a ton of current movie stars have stayed in this elegant hotel in the past. One of the last gigs I worked at this hotel was when I played in a band for a wedding...the Groom was a member of the Farrari club and they attended the wedding...the club rented fencing and security while the parking lot was full of..you guessed it...Farraris....
Finishing up drawing caricatures at Globalfest, I just have to post these two twins...such cool ladies, they get a caricature drawn by me every year and get their faces painted by the very talented Liz Mortlock whom I work with on a regular basis throughout the year....the irony about the twins Benita and Brenda are....they are security at the place I draw caricatures at.....................

Calgary Caricature Artist

Three more events this weekend...but today I'm just feeling lazy! I feel like parking myself in front of a good movie....the tricky part is...I can't find a good movie any more! This event above was for a banking institute that I do about 15 times a year or so, my Daughter did the temporary airbrush tattoos with me which I always enjoy. Tomorrow I'll put up a few pics from a couple of events I drew caricatures at on Saturday for an oilman's event held in Banff. I should explain...the young fella above wanted to be a doctor (hence the needle).....just saying............

Globalfest

Last night was my last evening drawing caricatures at Globalfest here in Calgary. Hundred's of thousands of people were in attendance for this week long event. I'm not sure which country displayed their fireworks last night as I usually have to "high-tail" it out of there after I'm done before the traffic rush begins. This morning (and I am NOT a morning person), I'm getting ready to drive up to Banff to draw caricatures for a golf tournament at The Banff Springs Golf Course....then tonight at a corporate function, then up early again to draw all day Saturday for a bank opening in Calgary. Would have liked to have taken some pictures of last night's fireworks...but my camera batteries finally died on me....right at that moment..............

Globalfest

This week will have me drawing caricatures in Calgary at Globalfest. I love this event as it brings out hundreds of thousands of people (try and get a parking spot!!!). It's a world class fireworks display where different countries compete with each other, if I'm not mistaken, this night was Great Britain's go at it. Inside the park they celebrate the cultural diversity of Canada and have each country with their food, dancers and music, then when it gets dark, I have to complete my caricatures because the lights dim in the area I'm working in for the fireworks display. I'm down here representing one of the major sponsors of the show. Now.......if I can just get this parking thing figured out.........

Caricatures in Calgary

Last evening I drew caricatures, while one of my favorite face/body painters, Amanda Tozser painted the faces of guests, both younger and older alike. Face painting has come a long way from cute butterflies and so forth on just children's faces, now adults are getting into having their faces painted. Check out Amanda's UNBELIEVABLE work on her site at..    http://www.amandamazingart.com/
A former Disney muralist and award winning face/body artist, I've worked with Amanda before when she was painting body art....that is something to see. Booked for the corporate event by Kel Studios Entertainment. Thanks Cara! Thanks Amanda!

Show Home Caricatures

Just a couple of the lovely ladies from the interior design group I drew caricatures for inside a show home yesterday. I loved this event as they were all artistic in their own field of work and were fun to work with! On top of it all, I had a great atmosphere to work in as well! Thanks Reilly!

Yoga Caricature-Cartoon

I don't draw many studio caricatures anymore, preferring event caricatures here in Calgary, but a regular client supplies me with the best pictures to work off of. Here's a yoga studio caricature-cartoon that total about 30 or so drawn for her, (some instructors coming and going). It's nice to see them displayed in the lobby of the studio. The main reason I stopped doing studio caricatures ( I'm asked about twice a week) is that I can't get proper pictures to work from and the hours spent wasn't worth the aggrevation to produce a good caricature. For these ones the client supplies me with a "front, quarter view and side view"...close-up....not 30 feet away, with a hat on, using a picture that is 15 years old (yes....I've had that!). Thanks Joan!

Sandy Beach Event

Believe it or not...this is called...Sandy Beach....... Today's event was held for a terrific group that worked at a car lot. Just like some of the road design by city planners in Calgary....the name "Sandy Beach" is a mystery..................
